Many people leave their home countries for new opportunities abroad. Before you embark on your journey, here are ten important things to know:

  1. Making Money: Money is not easy to earn abroad. It is not always a bed of roses.
  2. Friends: You may struggle to find trustworthy friends. Trust issues can arise, even with people from your home country.
  3. Food: The food you’re used to may not be available or could be expensive. Be open to trying new, more affordable meals.
  4. Pocket Money: Travel with enough money to cover your basic needs (food, accommodation, etc.) before finding a job. Others may guide you, but won’t take full responsibility for you.
  5. Convenience: Finding public washrooms can be challenging. Look for malls or large stores, as they usually have restrooms.
  6. Charging Your Phone: Carry a power bank. People may be hesitant to let you charge your phone due to theft risks or privacy concerns.
  7. Carry a Small Bag: A compact bag is easier to manage in emergencies. Large luggage may be inconvenient if you need to move quickly.
  8. Don’t Beg for Money: Work to earn. While help exists, self-sufficiency is respected.
  9. Racism & Provocation: You may face discrimination or offensive situations. Learn to handle them wisely.
