The grey and dark spotted Python.

The Grey and Dark-Spotted Python

When people hear the word "python," they often think of a dangerous animal—one that feeds on humans. Pythons belong to the class Reptilia. They are carnivorous, meaning they feed on flesh. Due to encroachment, these reptiles are going extinct in some regions.

Pythons inhabit swampy areas, forests, and dry lands. Growing up to 10 feet long, they are known for constricting their prey, swallowing them whole, and remaining in one place for an extended period while digesting their food. In areas where pythons are common, people remain vigilant against the potential danger posed by these large reptiles.

I came across this python, which was killed by an excavator operator during excavation work in the South-South region of Nigeria.
