Nothing unites the world like football; if not everyone, then at least someone in every family cherishes it. In this regard, in many homes—especially where football is popular—it is common to find at least one football. Footballs made from materials like plastic and rubber vary in size, color, and texture.

When I was young, my parents bought me one. To this day, children eagerly ask their parents to buy them footballs. We also got footballs through monetary contributions, taking part in "drink and win" promotions by bottling companies, or receiving one from a friend. For babies learning motor skills, a football is placed in their hands between ages one and two. As part of their sensory development, they often bring the ball to their mouths, using this instinctive action to explore its shape, texture, and feel.

Beyond bathing and applying lotion, feeding is one of the earliest learning processes babies undergo. That is why it's important to monitor babies after placing objects in their hands. The ball helps to improve their motor ability as they pat it away, push it upward, and try to kick it when imitating those around them.

Between the ages of five and seventeen, children play football during school recess, after school and during breaks like weekends, mid-term, public holidays, and school closures (after sessions).

As part of the school curriculum, students in similar age groups are organized into teams to play matches against each other. Sometimes, matches are arranged between two close classes. The size of the pitch largely affects how many players can participate in a football game. On smaller pitches, teams might have just four players each using a small goalpost—often called a "monkey post"—typically 4–5 feet wide. In contrast, larger pitches allow for full 11-player teams with a standard goalpost.
