Being a fan of Liverpool Football Club 🏆
"It is not nineteen forever," a glaring caption in white text inscribed on a red cloth, was held by some fans prior to the match with Tottenham at Anfield. Also visible were popular slogans such as "YNWA: You'll Never Walk Alone," portraits of legends—especially Kenny Dalglish and the modern-day idol Mohamed Salah, nicknamed "Mo Salah." All these swayed to and fro, held by passionate supporters who were gearing up for yet another Premier League title.
I became a Liverpool fan after watching the live broadcast of the historic 3–0 down comeback that was levelled at 3–3 at full-time in a match between Liverpool and AC Milan— a match played in 2005 in Istanbul, Turkey. Paolo Maldini, AC Milan's skipper, opened the scoring in fifty seconds, which was followed by two goals from Hernan Crespo. The hopes of the supporters in the stadium, including those of us watching from home, were dashed at that moment.
We regained hope when legendary Steven Gerrard scored a goal to narrow the deficit, raising his hands to rally the fans and reawaken their spirits. Another goal sparked further hope while we waited for the equalizer. Moments later, Baros was fouled, which earned Liverpool a penalty. Xabi Alonso, the taker, scored on a rebound after his initial penalty was saved.
At that moment, I observed a balance and sighed with relief—something extraordinary was about to unfold. After extra time, Milan lost to Liverpool 3–2 on penalties.
